William "Bill" Crinklaw passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 3rd with his family by his side.
Bill was born on August 17th, 1923 in the San Fernando Valley. His family moved to King City when he was three years old where he became a lifelong resident.
He attended King City High School where he was active in Boy's State, Future Farmers of America, and participated in various team sports. Upon graduation, Bill first attended college at Cal Poly and later transferred to Iowa State where he received his bachelors degree in 1946. While at Iowa State, Bill was a member of the Cossak Trick Rider Troupe.
Bill began his agricultural career raising and breeding swine and was nationally recognized for his 900 pound champion boar "The Rounder". Several years later Bill entered the farming business where he raised many varieties of vegetables for the next 50 years. Among the many accomplishments of his farming career, Bill was awarded the outstanding farmer of the year by the Salinas Chamber of Commerce in 1956.
Along with the many demands of his farming career, Bill still found time to volunteer 14 years on the Monterey County Fair Board and also served as president of the King City Lion's Club. He was also a member of St. Marks Church and director of the Youth Group.
Bill's biggest joy in life was raising his three children with his devoted wife of 65 years, Margaret. He was also blessed with 3 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Above all. he valued spending time with family along with entertaining their many friends.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Margaret; his daughter Susan Crinklaw of San Diego; Liz Ann Hutton (Jim) of Granite Bay; grandchildren Alex Hutton, Kaley Crinklaw, Brennen Crinklaw, and Peighton Crinklaw. Bill was preceded in death by his son Bill Jr.
Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mee Memorial Hospital in King City. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the staff at Mee Memorial hospital for the excellent care he received. Their thoughtfulness was sincerely appreciated by the family.
