IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Wendy Ann
Johnsen
January 10, 1953 – May 31, 2019
Wendy Johnsen went to be with the Lord May 31st, 2019 surrounded by loved ones. She was born January 10th, 1953 to Edward and Patricia Johnsen in King City, where she spent her childhood, and many years of adulthood.
She graduated high school, in the top of her class, in 1971 and proceeded to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she earned a degree in agriculture. She found employment with Monterey County as a produce inspector, which is continued until her health prevented it in the early 2000s.
She married in 1977 and had 3 children: Morris, Whitney and Kenneth (KJ).
In 1989 Wendy was diagnosed with a brain tumor and underwent treatment that included 2 surgeries. She then spent many years volunteering at both the Salinas and King City hospitals in the cancer wings.
Wendy's love of the Lord was very apparent. Even after becoming a resident of Mee Memorial Hospital's Skilled Nursing Unit, after a stroke in September 2003 prevented her from living on her own, her Grace Lutheran Church family made sure she was able to attended church almost weekly. Through all her trials and tribulations Wendy kept a stunningly positive outlook.
Wendy is preceded in death by her father Ed, mother Pat, brother David and son Morris. She is survived by her daughter Whitney (Matt) Wendell of Kingman AZ; son, KJ (Denee) Wycuff of Brawley, Calif.; sister, Karen (Doug) Farrar of Stanton VA, and brother Eric (Mona) Johansen of Lockwood Calif. She also was a proud grandmother of 8 grandchildren: Vance, Seamus, Nataleigh, Bo, Kaelyn, Lane, Koty, and Emmitt.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, June 4th, 10am at the Grace Lutheran Church, 205 Canal St., King City, Calif. Refreshments to follow.
Burial will be private and later in the afternoon.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Cancer Society or Grace Lutheran Church of King City.
