Verlinda "Linda" Louise Moss, age 68, of Greenfield went to meet the Lord December 23rd, 2014. Verlinda was born July 31st 1946 in McMinnville Oregon to Gloria June Bice and Lewis Ross McDaniel.
Growing up Verlinda thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her grandmother Louise, dancing, dodging nuns at Catholic school in Oregon, and helping care for her grandmother's roomers and boarders in Healdsburg, Ca. She attended Bakersfield High School and King City High School.
She was an avid crafter and was known for her beautiful handmade gifts. When she attended craft fairs she could often be seen giving away dolls or items she'd made to children without charge; she personified the phrase "it is better to give than to receive" and her greatest joy came from blessing others. She was always creating, be it crafts, conversations, or memories.
On Valentine's Day 1970, Linda married the love of her life Clarence "Leo" Moss, and together they built a home, a family, and a legacy in Greenfield Ca. She can be quoted as saying "I knew the moment he walked in the door I was going to marry him." Married for 45 years they were constant companions and enjoyed a mutual love of antiquing, classic cars, and each other.
In addition to raising their own four children she was a second mother to numerous kids that found their way to her door and a heap of grandkids. Ever one to pick up a cause she founded the Monterey County MADD (Mother's Against Drunk Driving) Coalition as well as the Greenfield High School Sober Grad Night Committee which she proudly Chaired for three years. She played an integral part in Greenfield High School's early years raising money for, helping with, and advising many clubs on campus. In 2002 she was inducted as an Honorary Life Time FFA Member for her outstanding contributions to the Ag Department. She was always the first to volunteer for a worthy cause and touched many lives throughout the community.
Verlinda is survived by her husband, Clarence Leo Moss; sons, Mitchell Allen Moss of Greenfield and Mac Daniel Moss of King City; daughters, Debra Lynn Hoyt of King City, and Teri Moss Storelli of Greenfield; mother Gloria June Bice of Bakersfield, and her grandchildren Matthew, Johnathon, Matison, Channing, Dexter, Kaitlyn, McKenzie, Tommy and Jenna Belle; as well as her great grandchildren Bae, Paxton, and Matthew.
