Shirley Francioli died peacefully October 31, 2021 at the age of 96 at her home in King City, CA. Shirley Angeline Martella was born and raised in Greenfield along with five siblings to the parents of Malachia and Candida Martella (Berta).
At the age of 18 she married the love of her life Alfonso Francioli and moved to King City where she lived the rest of her life. Some of the things she loved were crossword puzzles, reading, listening to the local radio station KRKC and often calling in to answer quizzes they had every week.
At the age of thirty three she starting going to Lake Nacimiento and learned to waterski even though she could not swim. Every Tuesday night for about 15 years she played in an adult volley ball league at the memorial Hall in Greenfield. On top of that she and Al were avid race car enthusiasts who attended the San Jose Speedway along with her in-laws Jim and Dora Luchessa almost every Saturday evening.
Shirley was a good seamstress making many of the family's clothing and was a 4H teacher teaching basic sewing.
Shirley was known in the community for her thirty five years of day care child services which she ran and operated in her home.
If you ever played adult softball then you would surely remember that any balls hit out of the park were retrieved by Shirley and Al who loved to be part of the Softball action.
She was a compassionate mother and friend to many a mother and father who trusted their children in her care.
In her later years Shirley was known as Grandma by her neighbors whom she enjoyed conversing with even though she was not completely fluent in their language.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Rose Cox, Lawrence Martella,
Fred Martella, Clair Juster; husband, Alphonso Francioli; and daughter and son in law, Joseph and Emily Boomer.
She leaves behind her brother, Carol Martella; sisters in law, Marylou Martella, Rosina Martin, Inez Francioli; two children, Carolyn Martin and Nancy Francioli; and two granddaughters, Jacquelyn Alvarez, and Elizabeth Alvarez.
She will be inurned at the King City Cemetery.
