Obituary

Santiago Vasquez Espino, 65 of King City passed away on Monday, June 1, 2015 at his home. Santiago was born the third child to parents, Fidencio Espino and Santos Espino in El Rincon, New Mexico in 1949.

Santiago along with his adoring brothers, Lorenzo Espino, Marcial Espino and sister, Juanita Espino Camarillo, lived between Mexico, Calexico and eventually moved up to King City. Santiago enjoyed dancing, music, and family barbeques. He graduated from King City High School in 1969. In 1972 Santiago went into the US Army. His tour of duty took him to Okinawa, Japan. He lived many good memories while serving.

Santiago returned to King City and was employed by Basic American Foods, Inc. for 20 years. While working there he found his true love and married Margarita Lopez in 1977. In 1980, they celebrated the arrival of their first son, Santiago Espino, Jr. In 1982 their daughter, Margarita Espino and in 1987 last-born, Elvia Espino arrived. Santiago was a loving and caring father. He worked hard to support those he loved. He then went on to work for McCormick in Salinas for 10 years. While there, he met many good friends.

Santiago retired in 2008 and spent his time enjoying barbeques, listening to music, watching Sci-Fi, Western and Kun-Fu movies. He enjoyed visits with his grandson, Rosendo Espino. He will always be in hearts and will live on in our memories.

Santiago is survived by his wife of 38 years, Margarita L. Espino; son, Santiago Espino, Jr. and two daughters, Margarita and Elvia Espino; one grandchild, Rosendo Espino, daughter-in-law, Che Chi and son-in-law, Moises Ruiz; his two brothers, and one sister and many many nieces and nephews.

SERVICE SCHEDULE:

A VISITATION will be held, Thursday, June 4, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7;00 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St., King City.

A RECITATION OF THE ROSARY will be held, 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St., King City.

A FUNERAL MASS will be celebrated 10:00 a.m., on Friday, June 5, 2015 at St. John's Catholic Church.

BURIAL WITH MILITARY HONORS will follow the mass in King City District Cemetery.
