Salvatore "Sam" Albanese, 85 of King City passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 at his home with his family at his side.
Sam was born January 29, 1929 in Mammola, Italy. He graduated from King City Joint Union High School in 1949 where he participated in football and basketball.
Sam served in the US Army 1951 – 1952. His tour of duty took him to Korea. His decorations and medals include; the Korean Svc. Medal with 1 Bronze Service Star, UN Service Medal, Medical Badge and two (2) Purple Hearts.
He worked for Safeway as a Grocery Clerk and retired after 30 years. Sam was a member of King City VFW Post 6747. He was also a parishioner of St. John's Catholic Church; member of the Knights of Columbus and a past member of King City Men's Golf Club.
He loved spending time with his family. Sam enjoyed barbequing, golf, playing cards with friends and a fine cigar.
Sam is survived by his daughters, Cheryl Garcia (Ric) and Janice Albanese; sons, Doug Albanese (Pam), Keith Albanese and Laz Treiner who was always like a son to him; brother, Jim Albanese; sister, Mary McDonald; 9 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Sam was preceded in death by his wife, Annunziata Albanese and his brothers, Frank and Joe Albanese.
SERVICE INFORMATION:
A Recitation of the Rosary and Funeral Mass was held 9:30, Thursday, January 29, 2015 at St. John's Catholic Church.
Sam's body was laid to rest next to his wife in King City District Cemetery.
