Salome Morales (everyone knew him as Don Cheme), 86 of Hobbs, New Mexico passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 in Lubbock, Texas after a brief illness.

He was born November 10, 1931 in Parral, Chihuahua, Mexico.  He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Eloisa Morales.  Five children, Chente (Maricela) Morales; Juan (Adriana) Morales, Rafael (Victoria) Morales; Sal (Partner: Angie); Lupe (Partner-Juan). Grandchildren: Andrea, Perla, Elizabeth, Isaac, Diego, Adrianna, Alexandra, Andrew and Jesse.

Don Cheme was a native of Parral, Chiuhua, Mexico.  In 1966, he arrived with his family to what used to be known as the California Orchard Company where they established roots and he began his work as a farmworker.  After a few years Don Cheme went to work for San Bernarbe Vineyard where he worked for over 25 years.  Don Cheme was a resident of King City, California from 1966 to 2005.  Upon his retirement he moved to Hobbs, New Mexico where he lived from 2006 to 2017.

Don Cheme was a thoughtful, warm, and caring family man.  Any person who met him had the opportunity of listening to his many stories he shared of his life in Mexico as well as in California. He had a great passion and love for farming and continued to enjoy it in his retirement years.

He will be missed by his loving family as well as all is friends that he made throughout his lifetime.

SERVICE INFORMATION:

A Visitation is scheduled to be held on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. followed by a 7:00 p.m. Rosary Service at St. John's Catholic church, 504 N. Third St. in King City.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, December 21, 2017 at St. John's Catholic Church.

Burial will follow the services in King City District Cemetery.

A Celebration of Life will follow the services at the Greenfield Memorial Hall, Greenfield, Calif.
