Deceased: Rumalda G. Torres
Rumalda G. Torres, 85 of Soledad passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday, June 23, 2011. Rumalda was born in Redlands, California and came to Soledad in 1937.
Rumalda worked for the Whitehurst Terry Funeral Services for 19 years. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church and a member of the Guadalupana Society. She enjoyed embroidering and making her "grandma" blankets. She was an avid fan of local baseball. One of her favorite past times was attending local Little League, Pony and High School baseball games. She was a Cincinnati Reds fan. Her favorite players were Johnny Bench and Benito Santiago, oh, and of course her great grandson Lawrence. She loved to watch baseball. If there was a game on TV she was not to be disturbed. She always had a positive attitude even thru her illness. Rumalda was a loving and caring person to all. Her grandchildren were her life.
Rumalda is survived by her children, Irene Torres, Helen (Gilbert) Reyes, Dorothy Perez and Raymond (Moni) Torres, III; sisters, Paz Snyder, Bibiana Gallardo, Betty (Rudy) Valles, Virginia (Fred) Munoz, Leandra Martinez; brothers, Jesse Gallardo, Efren (Mary) Gallardo and Johnny Gallardo; grandchildren, Tiffany (Joe) Haro, Anna Reyes, Mike (Melinda) Reyes, Patricia (Bradley) Mante and Elaine (Robert) Garcia; great grandchildren, Lawrence Fernando, Jr., Alyna Haro, Sabrina and Bo Carvalho, Mikayla and Miranda Reyes, Bradley and Alyssa Monte and Lauren Garcia.
Rumalda is preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Torres, Jr.; brothers, Pete Gallardo and Chano Gallardo; sisters, Guadalupe Torres and Connie Trevino and her grandson, Lawrence Fernando, Sr.
Visitation was scheduled, 5pm to 7pm, Tuesday June 28th at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church with a Rosary to follow at 7pm. A Funeral Mass was held, 11am, Wednesday, June 29th at Our Lady of Solitude Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Soledad District Cemetery.
