January 29, 1946 – June 15, 2024
Robert "Bob" Bronson Lockwood, 78 of Greenfield, Calif. passed away on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at his home with his family at his side. He was born, January 29, 1946 in Fresno, Calif. to Joseph Bronson Haycock and Betty Mae Lockwood. He was raised by his grandparents, Arthur and Faye Lockwood.
Bob was known for his hard work and dedication to various organizations. He began working at the age of 14 on a turkey ranch in Prather, Calif. He then worked for the U.S. Forest Service at the age of 16. From 1965 – 1971 he served in the U.S. Army and is a Vietnam Veteran. His past employments included working in various construction and heavy equipment capacities for Chemco, KC Transit Mix, Universal Foods, Vineyards, Farmers Mercantile, Oil Fields, and trucking. He retired from CTF after 20 years as a Masonry Instructor, Building Trades Supervisor and Correctional Business Manager.
Bob loved cars, helping veterans and all people in need. He enjoyed going to the lake, boating and camping, traveling the United States and painting. He was a member and past Commander of VFW Post 6747. He was also a member of the Greenfield American Legion, Soledad and King City Lions Clubs, and a Greenfield 4-H Leader. He served on the Greenfield Memorial Hall Board, Greenfield Planning Commission, Monterey County Veterans Commission Board, Veterans Cemetery Committee, Disabled American Veterans Counsel, and was VP of the United Veterans Counsel.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Eloise Lockwood; daughter, Laura (Mike) Tucker; grandson, Shaun Mason Tucker; son-in-law, Jimmy Johnson; siblings, Dianne Young of Carmel, Barbara Ascione,and Patrick Haycock of Utah, and Sandy Pfeiffer of Louisiana. Bob is preceded in death by his eldest daughter, Sandie Lockwood-Johnson.
A Graveside Committal with Military Honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Thursday, July 11, 2024 in the King City Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow in the Pavilion Building of the Salinas Valley Fairgrounds, 625 Division St., King City.
