Ricky (Rick) Eugene Lyman of Salinas passed away on Sunday November 26, 2023 in Salinas, CA.
He was born on January 8, 1964 in Salinas, CA to Eugene & Mertis Lyman a year later joined by his brother Dennis. He grew up in a time when kids on the block played and hung out together. He participated in little league. He went to Salinas's elementary schools, El Sausal Jr High School and graduated from North Salinas High School in 1982.
While in high school he worked at a Chevron gas station so he could have his own car or truck which he always seemed to have a nice truck.
He was very proud of his career as a commercial truck driver. He worked in that capacity for over 35 years for Interstate Battery, SWIFT, Williams Tank Lines and was a member of Teamster Union Local 853. He worked for Yellow Freight Company-Reddaway as a Forklift/Hostler Operator which he liked very much.
In his late twenties he moved away and was gone for a few decades he married a few times and had step children, nieces and nephews that he enjoyed watching grow up but the joy of his life was his daughter Libby. He had her later in life and loved being her Dad.
Rick was a gun owner, hunted and was an avid fisherman. He was known for loving to reel in everyone's catch. He loved animals, he had dogs in the past but currently was a great cat dad to his girls Frankie and Shorty.
He moved back to Salinas to care for his parents and during the pandemic he met and married Jayme. They were inseparable and were very much in love.
He was a Christian, his faith grew and he was baptized in 2021. He struggled with alcohol addiction but got strength from God and the Regeneration ministry at Calvary Monterey church.
Rick is preceded in death by his mother Mertis Lyman in 2020.
He is survived by his wife Jayme Lyman, daughter Libby Lyman, father Eugene Lyman, brother Dennis Lyman and many step children, grand step children, brother in law, sister in law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and lots of friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held, 1:00 pm, Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Calvary Monterey, 3001 Monterey-Salinas Hwy, Monterey CA 93940 • 831-649-1158
