Richard "Dick" Lush Gaisford passed away peacefully on February 7, 2016. He was born in King City on April 3, 1922 and was raised on the Tannahill ranch in Bitterwater. He attended grade school at Bitterwater Tully and then graduated from King City High School in 1939.
Like many of his generation, Pearl Harbor happened not long after graduation. He joined the Navy and served as a medic, where he met the love of his life Elizabeth Maloney. They were married in King City on December 30, 1946 and were married for 57 years.
Richard worked as a general contractor for many years, but left his mark throughout the County with his cement water tanks and was the only person in Monterey County certified to balance cattle scales. He was an avid member of the VFW and a lifetime member for 60 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife "Betty" in October of 2003 and his son Dale in July of 2010. He is survived by his daughter Lynda Locke (John) of King City, granddaughters Tanya Ramirez (Julian) of King City and Jessica Gaisford of Los Angeles and great grandchildren Bransen Barber and Caylee Ramirez both of King City.
