IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rena Maxine
(Fabretti) Miller
February 12, 1938 – April 18, 2023
Maxine (Fabretti) Miller was born February 12th, 1938 to Massimo and Guiditta Fabretti in Greenfield, CA. Maxine lived on her family's ranch in Greenfield all throughout her childhood and teen years where she enjoyed spending time with her sisters Hilda and Jeanette.
Maxine attended elementary and middle school in Greenfield, CA and graduated from King City High School. Following high school, she moved up to Berkeley to attend the Armstrong College of Business. She lived in the Bay Area while working as a secretary for many years where she met lifelong friends that she kept in contact with throughout her life.
Maxine met the love of her life Raymond (Ray) on a blind date set up by her sister Jeanette. Their love story flourished as they loved spending time with one another trying new restaurants, traveling to Wisconsin to visit Ray's family, spending time with close friends especially the Old Timers, as well as many other activities. Maxine was married to Ray on November 5, 1967 in Greenfield, CA. They settled in King City where they both worked for the school district.
Maxine started work as a secretary at Santa Lucia Elementary School then transferred to San Lorenzo Middle School as an office secretary for many years until she retired. She loved working here where she was able to be with her husband who taught 8th grade history. She also met new coworkers who turned into friends, as well as interacted with students that she remembered even late into her life. One thing Maxine loved doing was retelling stories of different students that would come to her window while she was working.
Maxine loved being social throughout her life. She was a part of many different organizations that she devoted her time to. Some of these groups included the St. John's Womens' Guild, Silver Kings and Queens, a bunco group, the Swiss Ticilenas, as well as many others. She loved going out to lunch with her close group of friends to celebrate each other's birthdays.
Maxine truly loved her family through and through. She loved spending time with them and was always there for them. She loved going to her grandchildren's events whether it be sporting or school events as well as spending quality time with her kids and their spouses. She was thrilled to be able to meet her great granddaughter.
One thing about Maxine is she loved to travel. Her favorite destinations included Switzerland, Hawaii, and Shell Lake. She would travel to Switzerland and visit her relatives that lived there and was so happy when she was able to travel there with her children and grandchildren. For many years she took a birthday trip to Honolulu, Hawaii with a dear friend of hers where she had the time of her life enjoying the ocean breeze and sipping Mai Tais. Her favorite trip of all however was the trip she took each year to Shell Lake, Wisconsin. Maxine would pack up her car with her family and dogs and drive cross country stopping at new sites and states every single summer. These rides were filled with so many laughs and the best memories made.
Maxine is survived by her daughter Amanda (Britt) Davis and her son Max (Irene) Miller as well as her grandchildren Lauren (Cesar) Soto, Mikayla Davis, Brady Miller, and Elise Miller, and her great granddaughter Hayden Rena Soto. She is also survived by her sister Hilda Thorne and numerous nieces and nephews. Maxine is preceded in death by her husband Raymond of 31 years, her mother Guiditta, her father Massimo, her sister and brother-in-law Jeanette and Dick Hitchcock, and her brother-in-law Jim Thorne.
A Rosary Service will be held at St John's Catholic Church at 6pm on Monday May 1st. The Funeral Service will be held at St John's Catholic Church at 10am on Tuesday May 2nd.
