Raymond Duckworth, 93 of Priest Valley passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 in Coalinga, Calif. Ray was born, November 22, 1921 in San Francisco, Calif.
After graduating from high school Ray went on to and graduated from Sacramento Junior College where he studied aircraft hydraulics. He then went to work at Moffett Air Field and McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento, California. There he met Letha Maddox, they married April 29, 1943. Together they had one daughter, Sandy.
Ray was a self-made man. He worked as a Service Station Attendant at a Teddy's Mobile Gas Station. He also worked in the shipyards in Richmond, Calif. and drove dump trucks at some point. He customized cars in San Francisco at the Auto-O-Rama in the 1940's. His styles and ideas were ahead of his time. He was an exotic car enthusiast and very knowledgeable about cars in general. He also flew airplanes and a helicopters in his lifetime.
Ray worked in South Lake Tahoe, Nevada as a Sound Technician for several celebrity entertainers from 1960-1962. Just to name a few: Jack Benny, Teresa Brewer, Bill Cosby, Sammy Davis, Jr, Nat King Cole, Bobby Darin, Robert Goulet', Andy Griffith, Phil Harris, Peggy Lee, Jerry Lewis, Liberace, Julie London, Dean Martin, Patti Page, Mickey Rooney, Dinah Shore and Lawrence Welk.
Ray was charming, a true gentleman and entrepreneur. He was funny, witty and independent. He was an investor in properties and vehicles. He was a survivor in life. He was friendly, articulate, intelligent and knowledgeable. Not only about cars, but a myriad of subjects. He was always productive in all his ventures. He was an easy conversationalist. He could hold his own in any element.
Ray is survived by his daughter, Sandy Lovato and son-in-law, Andy Lovato, of Elk Grove, Calif.; Allen Duckworth, Bob & Irene Duckworth, & other cousins, nieces, and nephews of Coalinga, Priest Valley.
Ray may be gone, but he will never be forgotten. He will forever be in our hearts.

A CELEBRATION OF RAY'S LIFE is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Eddington Funeral Services, 333 E. San Antonio Drive in King City.
BURIAL will follow in the family cemetery in Priest Valley.
