Obituary

Rachel Resendez, 73 of Greenfield, passed on Tuesday, December 23, 2025.

Rachel was born February 5, 1952 to Rogelio & Helen Mendez of King City Calif.  She grew up at the Orchard Company alongside her 8 siblings Roger, Martha, Maurillio, George, Antonia, Sara, Ruben, Beatrice & multiple cousins. She had fond memories of her childhood, running barefoot & playing amongst the orchard trees with her siblings, cousins and friends. There she met Ramon Resendez at the age of 5 years old who would later become the love of her life who she would be married to for 53 years.  She and Ramon would be engaged at the age of 18, a year later she followed him to Taiwan to be married November 4, 1972. She was a small town girl and had never flown on a plane before, so she showed much courage when she flew solo halfway around the world to marry the love of her life. She always told of the fun & happy times they had in the first years of their marriage in Taiwan and then later when Ramon would be stationed in the Philippines where she would have their first born child.  She spent 11 years as a navy wife and had two more children who were born in San Diego California while Ramon was still in the service. After Ramon left the Navy they would come back to the Salinas Valley to where their family was and would set down roots in Greenfield. She would go on to have two more children. Rachel loved being a housewife and raising her five children.

She was one of Jehovah's Witness and attended regularly the local Kingdom Hall in Greenfield. Her faith and service to Jehovah was always of the upmost importance to her. She instilled in all her children the importance of putting God first in their lives. She was a faithful sister and servant to Jehovah till her very last breath.

Rachel's hobbies were baking, cooking, sewing, gardening, and taking her children swimming in the summers to Arroyo Seco, & the beaches & tide pools in Monterey Bay. She made sure to teach her three daughters cooking and baking and domestic duties to Rachel these were important skills in life. She loved listening & dancing to her oldies music whether she was baking or cooking in her kitchen. She was also a super fan of the San Francisco Giants and could be heard loudly cheering them on whether at a home game at the stadium or watching them on television.

She is preceded in death by both her parents Rogelio & Helen Mendez. Three of her siblings Maurillio, George, Beatrice Mendez. Her nephew Ruben Mendoza.

She is survived by her husband Ramon Resendez, her children Ramon Resendez Jr, Kathryn Rodriguez (Jeremy), Laurel Alatorre (Nicholas), Carly Resendez, Luc Resendez. Her beloved grandchildren Ethan Alatorre, Jude Rodriguez, Julian Alatorre, Alexandria Rodriguez, Liam Alatorre. Her siblings Roger Mendez (Rosemary), Martha Rogers (Les), Antonia Mendoza (Rodolfo) Sara Zamudio (Rogelio), Ruben Mendez & multiple nephews & nieces..
