October 04, 2023, Paula Gene Martinez, 75, of King City, CA, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her beloved family.

Paula was born on June 10, 1948, to Walter and Virginia Tennant in Savannah, Georgia.  Born into a Military family, Paula traveled and lived in various cities in the United States as well as in Europe before landing at Fort Ord Military base in Marina. Her family settled in Salinas, CA, where she attended grade school and graduated from Salinas High School.

It was while attending Hartnell Junior College, where she met her husband, George Martinez. They were married on February 14, 1970, and were married for 53 years. Paula and George went on to have two children, Denise and Matthew.

She spent her life-long career working for the US Forest Service as a Civil Rights Officer and a Public Information Officer on a National Incident Management Team.  She retired after 30+ years of service.  Paula spent her free time as a member of Sol Treasures Cultural Center, she was involved in The Stagehands Theatre Group as a prop master and set designer, and she also volunteered at various local community events.  Above all, her most favorite thing to do was to spend time with her family…and of course Sammy, her West Highland White Terrier.

Paula was an only child and is survived by her husband, her two children, and four grandchildren.  They include her husband George, her daughter Denise, granddaughters Regina and Savana, her son Matthew (Sabrina), granddaughter Miranda, and grandson Jacob.

A Visitation will be held from 5pm – 8pm on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Eddington Funeral Chapel, 429 Bassett Street, King City.

A Funeral Mass is scheduled, 12:30 p.m. on Friday, October 13, 2023 at St. John's Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St., King City.  Burial will follow in the King City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations made in honor of Paula to the American Cancer Society.
