Patricia "Pat" Jones Meyer passed away at home on Wednesday, November 27, 2013 after a 10 year battle with Alzheimer's disease. Pat was born on November 21, 1930 in Los Angeles, California, to Ray and Geneva (Cutts) Jones. Later her family moved to Davis, California, where her father was Chief of the University Police Force. Pat & Bob met while he was a student at the University at Davis. There was no doubt from the beginning both had found the love of their life. They married on December 29, 1951 and shared 62 wonderful years together.
Pat came to King City as a new bride; ready to experience every adventure life had to offer. She learned to swim through the Red Cross program, becoming an excellent swimmer, going on to teach swimming and life saving with the Red Cross for over 25 years. She taught many of all ages from the King City area, but none made her prouder than grandson Lance, who still holds records in swimming for King City.
Pat's lifelong passion was her family, she was always alongside Bob to support and encourage him. They were life partners, business partners and best friends. Together they built Meyer Tomatoes in the United States, Baja, California & Mexico.
Another part of Pat's joyous adventures was traveling. She especially liked organizing trips for family and friends, foreign travel was on the top of her list. She wanted to see it all. Part of most summers were spent either at Lake Nacimiento or Catalina Island with family and friends. Her most cherished times were summers in Catalina with grandchildren Lance, Robert and Krystal.
Pat was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, godmother and devoted friend. For the last several years Pat has had loving care, allowing her to live with dignity and grace, all provided by her caregivers, Dolores and Lala. Pat's family and friends will be eternally grateful to these two women. Rest in peace Pat, you will be missed by all who love you.
Pat is survived by her husband, Robert, daughter Vicki Macias and husband Bill, son Craig Meyer and wife Maggie, grandson Lance, grandson Robert and his wife Whitney and granddaughter Krystal, brother Harold Jones of Florida, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Pat is predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Fred & Raymond Jones.
A private family viewing at the Eddington Funeral Services chapel and interment in the King City Cemetery was followed by a memorial service at Eddington Funeral Services at 12:00 noon for friends and family.
Pallbearers were her grandsons, Lance Turner and Robert C. Meyer, and friends,
Gary Pozzi, Ed Loos, Richard Smith and Butch LaVelle.
