Olive May Crocker, of King City, passed away peacefully at George L. Mee Memorial Hospital. She was 101 years old.
Olive was born May 7, 1910 in Ceres, California. She spoke often of how her childhood was so amazing and the role her parents played in the way she lived her life. She credited her spiritual beliefs to her parents; they were the strongest influence in her life. She made sure she passed that on to her family.
In her younger years she and her family moved to Spokane, Wash. and on to Core de Lane, Idaho. She soon met and married Phillip G. Crocker. They returned to California living in Soquel, Salinas and finally settling in King City where she has lived ever since.
Olive, affectionately called "GG" enjoyed traveling to the beach, camping, doing cross stitch, sewing, painting, gardening, playing the organ and reading the Bible and cooking. She could make the most delicious spice cookies and banana bread. Her joy was spending time with her family and grandchildren. They will forever miss her amazing Pumpkin Chiffon Pie.
During her working years she was employed by the Jolly Kone Burger and the A &W restaurants. She also worked for the Fuller Brush Company. In her later years she worked for the King City Elementary School District as a Crossing Guard. The kids affectionately called her Grandma. Olive finally retired in her late eighties. However, she wasn't quite ready for full retirement. She felt the need to learn how to use a computer. She decided to volunteer for the One Step Career Center for approximately 1 year. Olive stopped driving a motor vehicle at the age of 95 (not her choice). She was also a member of the International Order of Rebekah's in King City.
Olive is survived by her son, David Crocker; Daughter, Susan Moats; daughter-in-law, Berry Crocker; grandchildren, Chris (James) Mann, John (Holly) Crocker, Scott (Deborah) Crocker, Leslie (Steve) Bernal, Michele (Doug) Dietzman, Holly (Dave) Thompson, Barney (Irene) Bray, Mike (Melissa) Bray; eight grandchildren; eighteen great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and her parakeet, "PeeTee".
Olive is preceded in death by her husband, Phillip G. Crocker in 1980; her son, Richard Crocker; brothers, Jeff DeMott, Glen DeMott, Melvin DeMott, Floyd DeMott; sisters, Eleonor DeMott, Isabel Downey and her granddaughter, Melissa Bray.
