Jose Misael Chavez Silva, 75 of King City passed away Monday, February 3, 2014 at Natividad Medical Center. Most everyone called him, Misael Chavez.
Misael was born May 23, 1938 in Jamaica, Morelia, Michoacan, Mexico. He attended schools in Mexico and entered the Mexican Military. He and his family members came to the United States in search of a better life.
He has lived in the Monterey County area for 45 years. Misael has worked as a farm worker and the majority of his agriculture carrier for Cream of the Crop.
He enjoyed gardening, planting trees and being outdoors; spending time with family and friends. He loved to barbeque on Sundays.
Misael is survived by his children, Susan Chavez, Esteban Chavez and Cynthia Chavez; brothers and sisters, Arrelio, Gabriel, Agustina, Carolina and Esperanza. He is preceded in death by his mother, Fortunatta Silva and son, Jesus Misael Chavez.
A Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a recitation of the Rosary at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 6, 2014. A Funeral Mass was celebrated 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 7, 2014. All services were held at St. John's Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St., King City, Calif. Burial followed the mass in King City District Cemetery.
