IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Mildred R.
Conatser
July 27, 1923 – February 17, 2021
Mildred Conatser began her life in Oklahoma, born in 1923 to Lola Wyatt and Ward Robinson. She had one brother, Dubs. Her father passed away when she was nine years old. Her mother remarried to Frank Provence so she had step-sisters and brothers. She was very close with her grandmother who she called Mama.
While in high school Mildred dated a boy that Lee Conatser and his best lifetime buddy didn't think was right for her. So, with the flip of a coin, Lee always said he lost, but actually won his bride to be. They married in 1941 and shared 53 years together. They made their first home in Virginia and De Queen, Arkansas. Later found their way to King City, CA in 1947 with son Danny. Soon came Larry, Paula and Brent.
Mildred was a dedicated wife, mother grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker. She started working as a waitress at El Camino Hotel and the Surry Inn. Lee came home one day with a 1956 Mercury that he just had to have. It made many family trips to Arkansas.
In 1962 Mildred and Lee went into business starting Lee Conatser Welding and in 1970 started King City Industrial, still operating today. She kept the books for both business and made sure they balanced down to the last penny. While their 4 children, daughter-in-law and son-in-law took care of the business, Mildred and Lee began traveling to Arkansas to bring back hose trailers which extended in trips back for camping and fishing. Mildred liked shopping and was a very good cook and baker. She insisted on 3 meals a day. She kept Lee's vegetable garden after he passed. She planted flowers and a new rose bush would appear at the loss of a family or friend. Mildred was a strong willed and a bit spoiled as Lee would say. But, she raised her children with loving faithful and hardworking values.
She was a member of the Baptist Church and along with Lee helped to support the new build of the King City Bible Church which they attended. She was a member of Silver King s and Queens, the Rebekahs and the Quilt Guild. One could often find her sitting at her sewing machine or with needle and thread in hand. An accomplished seamstress, she enjoyed crochet embroidery and creating her many, many beautiful quilts with her sister-in-law Rozell. She would say, "If it was worth doing it was worth doing right." Many stitches were ripped out and redone. Lee would say, "Why cut up a piece of material just to sew the pieces back together?" It's the memories she left us and the love in her heart that she gave, it was in every stich that she made, still stitching the last couple of months of her 97 years.
Mildred is preceded in death by her husband Lee; Rozell, son-in-law, Jack; grandsons, Kade and Bryan. She is survived by sons, Danny (Georgette) and family; Larry (Janice) and family; Brent and family and daughter Paula and Kadey.
Now at home she will always be forever in our hearts. She would say, "A home is where the heart is." Love and miss you Mom.
If you wish, donations in memory of Mildred can be made to the King City Bible Church or to the charity of your choice.
