Michael Dwain Stanphill was born on August 10, 1964, and passed away on September 29, 2026, in San Diego, CA at the age of 62.
Michael (Mike) was preceded in death by his parents Herman and Hildred “Joy” Stanphill, his sister Sherie Vint, grandparents Floyd and Frankie Stanphill, Howard and Ermine Tyler, Herman and Julia Spieker, and beloved dog Marley.
Mike is survived by his loving husband and life partner of 20 years, Dennis Legg of San Diego, CA; his 3 sons, Jacob Bradley (Erin) of Lake Elsinore, CA, Jarred Stanphill (Meredith) of Alpine, CA, and Justin Stanphill (Lauren) of Lakeside, CA; his six grandchildren, Jordan, Evan, Connor, Avery, Mason, and Keira; his stepmother, Lorraine Stanphill of Port Orchard, WA; brother, Jack Smith of Port Orchard, WA; and sister, Julia Burwell (Dusty) of Gig Harbor, WA.
Mike was born in San Diego and moved to Washington State when his father was stationed there while serving in the U.S. Navy and he moved back to the city of San Diego that he loved to start a career and his own family. In 2008, Mike and Dennis purchased a house near San Diego State University, and together they made it a beautiful home. They were married on July 21, 2021, in San Diego, CA.
Mike enjoyed cooking, gardening, collecting antiques, and spending time outdoors. He had a keen eye for landscape design and spent hours turning his yard into a peaceful refuge. Some of his best days were spent camping (glamping) with Dennis, family, and dog Marley.
Mike will be greatly missed by those close to him and forever remembered for his generous heart and infectious laugh.
Services will be held at Eddington Funeral Chapel, 429 Bassett St., King City, CA on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at 1:00 PM with graveside service to follow at King City Cemetery in King City, CA at 2:00 PM.
