IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Matthew Montijo
Giles
December 8, 1991 – November 4, 2024
Matthew Montijo Giles, beloved son of Brett Giles and Sandra Montijo was called home to be with our Lord and Savior on November 4, 2024. He was born in Sacramento, Calif. on December 8, 1991 and shortly after moved with his family to the countryside of the Lockwood Valley hills.
Matthew enjoyed a happy, active childhood. He played basketball, baseball and was an active participant in the local 4H where he raised lambs and pigs. He camped, fished, hunted and traveled with his family on many vacations. He loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman his entire life. He also prepared rubs for the elk and venison and on many evenings would grill them outdoors.
At the age of 15, Matthew was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia and treated at Stanford Medical Center. He faced many physical challenges as a result, but continued to live his best life. Matthew graduated from King City High School and later graduated from Monterey Peninsula College in Administration of Justice, Law Enforcement with honors. He loved his family and proudly worked alongside his father in the company business as a contractor for 14 years.
Matthew is survived by his parents, Brett Giles and Sandra Montijo; his brother, Scott; his sister Sylvia (Yami); grandmother Rosemary Montijo; aunts, Diana Montijo; Sharon Covarrubias (Xavier); Robin Winkler (Gary); uncle, David Montijo; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Jack M Giles and Henry J Montijo; grandmother Barbara Giles; uncle Scott Giles; and aunt, Carla Giles.
God has him in his hands and we have him in our hearts. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.
