Obituary

Marcel Miranda, Jr. 88 of San Ardo passed away peacefully at his home with his daughter at his side on May 16, 2014. He was born in the Metz Rd. area of King City, January 16th, 1926

He attended San Ardo Union schools and graduated from King City High School. Marcel served in the US Army during WWII. After serving his country he attended a trade school in Southern California. He returned to King City to marry his only sweetheart, Lupe Rojas. They moved to San Ardo were they raised their family.

Marcel was a lifetime member of VFW Post 6747 and San Ardo Lion's Club. He enjoyed running the "Chuck-A-Luck" at the Annual Turkey Shoot, tending to the 4-H Rose Garden, climbing and trimming trees. Everyone knew him as the "Mayor of San Ardo" or "Abe". He was a self employed "Jack of All Trades". He was a lifetime resident of San Ardo who never wanted to leave.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Lupe Miranda and son, Marcel Miranda, III; parents, Marcel and Urana Miranda; brothers, Manuel Miranda, John Miranda, Fred Miranda and Pete Miranda; sister Lillian Gallegos.

His greatest joy in life came from his grandchildren, Laura Rhodes, Christopher Johnson and Cole Johnson; great grandchildren, Miranda Rhodes, Gaven Johnson and Celton Marcel Johnson. He is also survived by one sister, Angie Perez; two brothers, Albert Miranda and Tony Miranda; daughters, Theresa (Roy) Nichols, Patricia (Craig) Johnson.

SERVICE INFORMATION:

A Visitation will start at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, May 22nd, 2014 followed by a Rosary Service at 6:00 p.m., at Eddington Funeral Services Chapel, 333 E. San Antonio Drive, King City. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, May 23rd, 2014 at Our Lady of Ransom Catholic Church in San Ardo. Marcel will be laid to rest in King City District Cemetery following the mass.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, donations may be made to VFW Post 6747, VNA Hospice, San Ardo Fire Depart, or the Wounded Warriors Program.
