SERVICE INFORMATION:
A celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2023 in the Salinas Valley Fair Pavilion, 625 Division St., King City.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the charity of your choice in memory of Jolly.
On January 7, 2023, Luther "Jolly" King passed away peacefully with his family at his side. Jolly was born on August 31, 1950, in King City, California. He grew up on the Reynolds Ranch on Lonoak Road.
Jolly graduated from King City High School, class of 1969. Following graduation, he went to work for Red Bailey at the Union 76 station, located where Chase Bank is at today. Red taught Jolly how to change tires. He then worked for numerous tire service companies in South Monterey County. He continued until his retirement in the tire sales and repair business. He was well known for changing a tires 24 hours a day 7 days week. He specialized in off road and commercial tires.
You could find Jolly every morning at the Donut King with the boys, the "Big Dogs", having coffee, before he would open the shop by 6:30 or 7:00 am. There was always hot coffee on at the shop as well. The boys, "Big Dogs" would stop by to read the newspaper with him or shake dice in the afternoon.
He enjoyed shooting the loop or taking a drive on a back road with his friends and family. He would go hunting for pigs and deer with his brothers and his friends when he could. He enjoyed traveling with his friends and family with the 5 th wheel trailer, taking many weekend trips to San Antonio Lake, also going on cruises with the love of his life. You could always catch him watching a western show of some kind. His favorite was Gunsmoke.
Jolly is survived by his wife of 52 years Jean King; sons, Allen King, Dean (Sara) King; grandchildren, Sierra (Jordan) Council, Halyn King, Dean King, Jr., and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Jolly in death was his father, Luther King; mother, June King; brothers, John King, and James "Bear" King.
