A Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday, May 7, 2022, at 12:30. It will be held at the family ranch, 52045 Pine Canyon Road, King City
Lucille "Lucy" Salcido, 84, of King City passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 22nd, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and will be deeply missed.
Lucy was born to Francisco and Felipa Diaz at home in Goodrich, Colorado on January 2nd, 1938. She was the youngest of nine children, having six brothers and two sisters.
In 1945 the family moved to California and briefly lived in Santa Ana before planting their family roots in King City. She graduated from San Lorenzo Middle School in the mid 50's. At the age of 16, she began her working life at L.A. Hearne Company, Freeman's clothing store and Hitchcock Rexall Pharmacy. It was not long after that, Lucy met the love of her life, Willie Salcido. They went on to marry in 1961 and raised their 4 sons together. Lucy worked at Basic Vegetable Products until 1976. From 1974 to 2007 she was the backbone and office manager for the family plumbing business, Salcido Service.
Lucy was known for her huge welcoming heart and her "open door policy". If you knew Lucy, you knew that surprise visits to the house meant being greeted with a warm smile and meal of some sort. One of her favorite activities was cooking delicious meals for her loved ones. Her homemade rice, tortillas and tamales were a family favorite. She enjoyed traveling with her family, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and playing Rummikub.
She is survived by her Sons: Higinio (Kristin) Salcido, George (Cindy) Salcido, Tom (Sharise) Salcido and Tim (Chrissy) Salcido. Grandchildren : Jordan Payton, Julianne Salcido, Joseph Salcido, Courtney (Juan) Mendoza, Tyler Salcido, Trent Salcido, Trey Salcido, Mackenzie (Bryce) Williams, and Kelsey Salcido. Great-grandchildren: Emilia Mendoza, Remi Mendoza, Cruz Rodriguez, Nova Rodriguez and Henley Williams. Siblings: Fred Diaz, Tom Diaz, Anna Zavala. Numerous nieces, nephews and god-children. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willie and her siblings Joe Diaz, Tony Diaz, Lauro Diaz, Victoria Chambers and Felix Diaz.
Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to Mission San Antonio De Padua or a favorite charity in Lucy's memory.
