Larry Smith

Larry Kay Smith, born in King City, California, to Bonnie and Lloyd Smith, was the oldest brother of Charles Smith, who passed in 2025, and is survived by his younger brother, Marvin. As the first-born, Larry attended school in San Lucas and King City and maintained a lifelong connection to the Salinas Valley.

Larry built a respected career in agriculture as one of the finest tractor listers in the region. Farmers trusted his skill and work ethic. He worked in the Salinas Valley until retirement.

He loved the outdoors, hunting Carmel Valley, horseback riding, and fixing motorcycles and cars with friends. He was a devoted fan of the San Francisco Giants and NASCAR. His partner of 20 years, Pansy, shared his enthusiasm, and they spent many happy hours together watching games.

He is survived by his children: Jarrett Smith (Jeanie), Shawneen Edgington (Michael), Tanya Smith, Savannah Griffin (Marty), Jesse Smith (Cati), Laryn White, and Dillon Smith (Vanessa), along with 20 beloved grandchildren.

Known for his playful spirit and storytelling, Larry especially loved sharing stories with his grandchildren. He also took pride in his garden, especially his tomatoes.
