Obituary

It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Jill Serritelli, who passed away on October 7, 2026, at the age of 67. A beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend, Karen leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories, unconditional love, and a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to have known her.

Karen was born on November 21, 1958, to Robert and Carol Krehbiel. Raised in the beautiful Monterey County area of California, Karen called King City and the surrounding communities’ home. Her roots in

Monterey County remained an important part of her life, shaping the friendships, experiences, and memories she carried throughout her years.

Karen had a passion for traveling, music, band, and teaching. She loved exploring new places, experiencing life's adventures, and making memories along the way. Her love for music and band brought her great joy, while her passion for teaching reflected her desire to encourage, inspire, and make a difference in the lives of others. Whether sharing her knowledge, enjoying music, or spending time with those she loved, Karen found happiness in the moments that brought people together.

Above all else, Karen's greatest pride and joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to her three children, John Andrew Serritelli Jr., Sean Michael Serritelli, and Katie Zelaya. Her love for her children was unwavering, and the memories they shared will forever remain a part of her legacy.

Karen was also a proud and loving grandmother to six grandchildren: Zayden Serritelli, McKenna Serritelli, James Diaz, Briella Serritelli, Amelia Serritelli, Analia "Grace" Serritelli, Julianna Marie Zelaya, and Johnathan Jeffrey Zelaya. Each of her grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and her love will continue to live on through them for generations to come.

She is survived by her children, Sean Michael Serritelli and Katie Serritelli, her eight beloved grandchildren, her father, Robert Krehbiel, and her brother, Robert Krehbiel, along with extended family members and friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Karen was preceded in death by her beloved mother, Carol Krehbiel, and her oldest son, John Andrew Serritelli Jr.

While her passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, her family finds comfort in knowing that Karen has been reunited in Heaven with her mother and her firstborn son. After years apart, they are together again, embraced in eternal peace and love.

Karen's life was filled with love, strength, laughter, and memories that will never fade. She will be remembered for her passion for life, her dedication to family, her love of teaching and music, and the countless ways she touched the hearts of those around her.

Though we must now say goodbye, the love she gave and the memories she created will remain with us forever.

Rest peacefully, Mom. Your journey here has ended, but your love will never leave us. Give Grandma and John a hug from all of us. Until we meet again, you will forever be loved, forever missed, and forever remembered.

Forever in our hearts.
