Longtime Greenfield resident, Juanita "Janie" Govea, 96, passed away, Thursday, April 4, 2013.
SERVICE INFORMATION:
A VISITATION is scheduled, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 10th at Eddington Funeral Services Chapel.
A ROSARY will follow at 7:00 p.m.
A FUNERAL MASS will be celebrated, 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 11th at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Greenfield. Burial will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Janie was born February 8, 1917 in Anson, Texas.
In 1947 Janie and her husband Moses brought their six children to live in California. After several years Janie gave birth to her seventh child. The family has lived in Greenfield ever since.
Janie enjoyed watching her soap operas on television, cooking, gardening and embroidery. She loved to spend time with her family and cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church and a past member of the Guadalupanas.
She is survived by her children, Lydia (Isau) Prieto of Huntington Park, Calif., Ben (Becky) Govea of Castaic, Calif., Mary Alice (Ruben) Perez of King City, Olivia Avalos of Greenfield, Isabel (Leo) Garcia of Greenfield and Irene Perez of Greenfield; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Janie is preceded in death by her husband, Moses Govea; her son Roy Govea; sisters, Andrea Mendoza and Feliciana Montoya; brothers, Morris Hernandez, Antonio Hernandez, Paul Hernandez and Lorenzo Hernandez.
