Juan Serrano Sosa will always be remembered by his family as a loving, honest, sincere, and hardworking man. He was born on May 23rd 1925 in Michoacan, Mexico and was raised in Arroyo Grande, Guerrero.
Known as Deri by his daughters, and Ito by his grandchildren, he passed away peacefully on February 23rd, 2013 at the age of 87.
Juan immigrated to California in 1954 through the Bracero program. His family accompanied him on this journey for a better life.
He instilled in all his children the virtues of working hard. He was the first employee at Valley Farms and worked there for more than 40 years.
He leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Lydia Gaona Sosa, four daughters: Sara Silva, Alice Dominguez, Hortencia Lopez, and Josefina Silva, as well as 14 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
Juan will be welcomed into heaven by his grandchildren Ed and Maria.
We will always cherish his childish aura that was so magnetic and jubilant. This is what we will remember most about him. Even when Juan was unable to walk, he still found a way to dance.
SERVICES:
A Visitation and Rosary Service was held, Thursday, February 28, 2013 at St. John's Catholic Church in King City. A Mass of Christian Burial was performed on Friday, March 1, 2013. Mr. Sosa was laid to rest in King City District Cemetery following the funeral mass.
