Joseph James Dughi, lifelong resident of San Lucas and King City, passed away at age 100 on April 6, 2024.

Joseph was born June 12, 1923 in King City to Maria Gianoglio Dughi of Montaldo Scarampi, Italy and Arnold Dughi of Gordola, Switzerland. Joseph graduated from King City High School in 1942. He was a dairyman in San Lucas for many years working on his family's ranch. He then worked as an agricultural inspector for Monterey County for 23 years and retired at the age of 65.

On a trip to Switzerland he met Ilde where they married in the town of Vogorno-Berzona Canton Ticino in 1968. After two years in Salinas, they made their home in King City.

Joseph was one of the founding members of the King City branch of Knights of Columbus. He was a devout Catholic and parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Swiss American Club and Kings and Queens.

Joseph is preceded in death by his mother and father, and sister Edna Massaro.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. Joseph is survived by his wife Ilde of the family home in King City, son Lorenzo Dughi (Michelle McCrea) of Cotati, daughter Cinthia Jimenez (Marlon Jimenez) of Soledad and his four grandchildren Makaio, Kali, Keitaro, and Raeden Jimenez.

He is also survived by his sisters Elva Byrne of King City and Ida Helms of Solvang and was a beloved uncle to many nieces and nephews.

A Rosary and Mass will be held starting at 9:30 a.m., Friday, April 12, 2024 at St. John's Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St. in King City.
