Josefa Carrizoza Lopez, 86 of King City passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2016 in Salinas, California.

Josefa fue una persona con carácter que la mantuvo en el liderazgo de su familia y de la comunidad. Fomentó en sus hijos los valores morales tradicionales de la familia mexicana apegada a la fe cristiana católica.
Llegó a esta ciudad de King City en 1969 con su esposo ahora finado y sus hijos. Trabajó arduamente en la compañía Basic Foods Co. durante 26 años. En su trabajo siempre se caracterizó por su entrega y colaboración y calidad humana con sus compañeros. Fue nominada por la Diocesis de Monterey como líder de la catequesis católica de familias de migrantes hispanos en esta ciudad y se ganó el cariño de estas comunidades. Dentro de la iglesia participó activamente en los ritos religiosos durante varias generaciones de sacerdotes. Desarrollaba labores de asistencia social y apoyo religioso a los pacientes del hospital Mee Memorial de King City.
Le sobreviven sus 8 hijos e hijas, Adelita, Rafael, Silvestre, Jesus, Gustavo, Marissa, Efrain y Maria Concepción, sus hermanos Manuel, Tómas, Ramon, y Maria Luisa, 22 nietos, 15 bisnietos.

Servicios de visitación y rosario, jueves, 18 de febrero a las 7:00 pm en la iglesia católica Saint John the Baptist en King City. Misa de cuerpo presente, viernes 19 de febrero a las 10:00 am en la iglesia católica Saint John the Baptist.
We are saddened to announce the passing of Josefa Carrizoza López, who died peacefully on Saturday, February 13, 2016.
Josefa was a person of character and was a leader for her family and in the community. She instilled in her children the traditional values of a Mexican family bound to their Catholic faith.
She arrived in King City in 1969 with her husband, Jesus, now deceased, and her children. She worked ardently at Basic Foods Company for 26 years. In her job, she was always known for her integrity, her cooperative spirit and her compassionate and amicable manner. She was recognized by the Diocese of Monterey for her leadership as a catechist for the Hispanic, migrant community of King City. She gained the community's affection through her work. Within the church, Saint John the Baptist, she was active in the religious rites of the Catholic church throughout various generations of priests. She was engaged in social service work and religious support to patients of Mee Memorial Hospital in King City.
She is survived by her children, Adelita, Rafael, Silvestre, Jesus, Gustavo, Marissa, Efrain and Maria Concepción. She is also survived by her siblings, Manuel, Tómas, Ramon, and Maria Luisa, 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Josefa will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
SERVICE INFORMATION:
A RECITATION OF THE ROSARY will be held 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 18, 2016 at St. John's Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St. in King City.
A MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 19, 2016 at St. John's Catholic Church.
Burial will follow in King City District Cemetery
