Obituary
John Willard McElmoyl, 89 of Greenfield passed away on Thursday, November 21, 2013.
On November 21, 2013 our family paused together and reflect.
John Willard McElmoyl was born September 16, 1924 near Corcoran, California to John and Ella McElmoyl.
John attended local schools graduating in 1942 from Corcoran High School. He enlisted in the US Navy and served our nation during WWII as a Weapons Control Officer. After receiving an Honorable Discharge, John marred his Childhood Sweetheart, Billie Edwards on June 9, 1945. Thanks to the GI Bill he attended the College of The Sequoias and University of California at San Francisco, graduating in 1951 with his Pharmacy Degree.
After working various positions in San Diego, Grover City and Morro Bay, John became owner of Greenfield Pharmacy in 1961. John ran the pharmacy until his recent retirement, as if there really was a retirement and thoroughly enjoyed his time in public service.
John was a proud member of the United Flying Octogenarians (U.F.O's) for the past nine years and loved his time flying.
John is survived by his wife, Billie; daughters, Diana McElmoyl, Betty (Ed) Shackelford; son, John (Lisa) McElmoyl; four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. John was predeceased by his parents and brother, Don.
SERVICE INFORMATION:
A Celebration of Life will take place at 12:00 p.m. on January 4, 2014 at the First Southern Baptist Church (corner of 6th St. and Apple) in Greenfield.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes any donations be made to the Greenfield Fire Department.
