Jewell Dickerson
Woodfill
February 19, 1923 – February 1, 2018
Jewell Dickerson Woodfill was born in Glendive, Montana on February 19, 1923, and died peacefully at home in Lockwood on February 1, 2018. She grew up in western Oklahoma and moved to Missouri in her early teens. She married Robert Woodfill in 1941, and after Bob left the navy, the couple moved to Tulare, California, where they raised their children, Larry, Joyce, and Randy. They moved to Greenfield In 1975, and relocated to Lockwood five years later.
In 2004 Jewell and Bob bought a home on Grand Lake of the Cherokees in Grove, Oklahoma, where Bob died in 2005. Jewell lived on her own between Lockwood and Grove until January 2012, when she married childhood friend John Anderton. They shared five wonderful years on the lake.
When John died in January 2017, Jewell returned to the home she'd known for decades in Lockwood. She found happiness surrounded and cared for by her loving family. Jewell is survived by her sons, Larry and Randy, and her daughters-in-love, Susan and Patricia. Her daughter Joyce died in 1991. She also leaves grandchildren Kay, Karen (her caretaker), Kenneth, Darin and Christina, as well as 10 great-grandchildren who grew up playing the games she loved and taught them, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Jewell experienced the Oklahoma Dustbowl as a child, and went on to live a remarkable life as minister's wife, teacher, mother, grandmother, great and great-great-grandmother. She was a loving and powerful woman who blessed and was blessed by all those privileged to know her.
Donations may be made to Central Coast Hospice in San Luis Obispo, or the American Cancer Society.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE WILL BE HELD:
A Memorial Service at St. Luke's Episcopal, Northwest Intersection, Jolon and Mission Rds. in Jolon, Calif. at 12 noon Saturday, February 10, will be followed by a luncheon featuring Jewell's favorite food: tacos.
Jewell will be buried at Tracy Cemetery in Anderson, Missouri, next to Bob and Joyce.
