Obituary

Jesse Austin Jones, 93 of King City passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024.  He was born to Fred and Mary Jones July 27, 1931 in Carollton, Arkansas.

He went to Alpena High School in Alpena, Arkansas. He served in the US Airforce, 9th Air Police Squadron, Mt. Home Air Force Base, Idaho.  He was married to Mary Lynn Jones for 36 years.  He has lived in Monterey County for the past 70 years.

His past employments included driving truck for Bill Stacey and Frank Taylor, and EA Thompson Company.  However he will most be remembered by so many as their Mailman.  He worked out of the King City Post Office as a mail carrier from 1965 to 1992.

Jesse enjoyed reading, hunting, fishing, refinishing guns and reloading shells.  He was a member of NRA, and the National Association of Letter Carriers.

Jesse is survived by his daughters Jackie Hughes, Nita Nuno and her husband George; grandchildren, Stacey Nuno, Brieanne Andrade; great grandchildren, Jesslyn LaVelle and Mason Lavelle, Matteo Andrade and Milla Andrade; and nephew, Larry Wheatley.  He is preceded in death by his wife Mary Lynn Jones and his sister, Maurine Wheatley.

SERVICE: A Graveside inurnment with military honors will take place, 10am, Thursday, September 26, 2024 at King City Cemetery.

GATHERING: Following the graveside, please join the family at the Train Depot in San Lorenzo Park, 1160 Broadway, King City where they will continue to celebrate his life.
