Jerry Leonard Lafferty
March 24, 1943-April 09, 2016
Jerry Lafferty is running over green fields after 54 years of living with paralysis. Jerry's body was broken on that fateful February day in 1962, but his spirit stayed strong.
Jerry was born to Grady and Juanita Lafferty on March 24, 1943 in Los Banos, Calif. The youngest of three boys, he spent many hours with his brothers, Jim and Jack, roaming over the acres of the ranch where they lived. There the Lafferty boys hunted, fished, and partook in the general foolishness of which great memories are made.
The family moved to King City in 1955, where Jerry resided the rest of his days. Before the accident Jerry was an active teen, participating in track and football for King City High School. He joined the United States Navy Reserves with the understanding that he would transition to active duty once he had graduated; receiving an honorable discharge in autumn of 1962.
Jerry enjoyed watching the Mustangs play various sports; he loved this community and was blessed with many friends.
Jerry was preceded in death by: father- Grady Lafferty, mother-Juanita Lafferty, brothers Jim and Jack Lafferty, and nephew Mark Lafferty.
He is survived by nephew Randy Lafferty of Seaside, niece Tammy McAdams (Don) of Phoenix, AZ, nephew Grady Lafferty (Miranda) of Phoenix, AZ, niece Molly Perry (Robert) of King City, and niece Brandy Lafferty of King City.
Jerry's brother and sister-in-law, Jim and June Lafferty both passed away on April 4, 2016. Because these tragedies occurred within days of each other, a joint service has been planned to be held on Thursday April 14, 2016 at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church, 450 King Street, King City. After the service there will be a graveside internment for Jerry, then a reception for all three in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Mustang Bench, or charity of your choice.
