Jean Ross, age 84, of Greenfield, California, passed away on Tuesday, April 23, 2013 at Salinas Valley Medical Center.
Jean was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend whose memory was honored on Monday, April 29, 2013, at Eddington Funeral Services Chapel.
Jean was born, the daughter of Willard and Rosa Hayes, on June 28, 1928 in Akron, Colorado. She was the sixth of seven children in the Hayes family. Preceding her in death were father, Willard Hayes, mother, Rosa Hayes, brother Paul Hayes, Sisters, Nellie Armer and Kathleen Eichler.
Her stay in California began in 1940 and she lived her remaining years in Greenfield, California.
During her life in Greenfield she married her companion and the love of her life James Lenard Ross. Their marriage began on March 16, 1947 and lasted the test of time for 66 beautiful years. She raised their children, Kenneth Ross and Pat Hardin and built lasting friendships in this community where she greeted and served Greenfield patrons where she worked.
Jean loved life and found pleasure in being a homemaker she enjoyed quilting, camping, fishing, traveling, and canning foods from their home garden. She found joy in her beautiful rose garden and most importantly spending time with those she loved and who loved her.
Jean is loved by all whom knew her well. She cared for others and is known for her honesty, forgiveness, thankfulness, and most of all as a true companion. The gifts she shared with her family and friends will be passed onto the future generation to continue her memory.
She is survived by her husband James Lenard Ross, two loving children Pat Hardin, Kenneth Ross, brothers, Rex and Scotty Hayes, Sister, Betty Hall, Grandchildren, James (Jennifer)and Ryan (Stephanie) McNulty, Jarrod, Brad and Raymond (Ali) Ross, Great Grandchildren, Sydney and Addison McNulty, Cali and Lucy Ross.
A Visitation was held Sunday evening, April 28, 2013 at Eddington Funeral Services Chapel. A Funeral to Celebrate Jean's life was held 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 29, 2013 at Eddington Funeral Services Chapel followed by a graveside committal in King City District Cemetery.
