SERVICE INFORMATION UPDATE BELOW

Lura Jane Allen of King City, California passed away at the age of 77 on November 19, 2024. Jane was born on March 8, 1947 in Oakland, California to Frank and June Allen. She grew up in Lafayette, California and was close with her older sister Marilyn and her brother-in-law Bruce, who helped raise Jane after her mother's death in 1960.

After graduating from Del Valle High School in 1964, Jane attended San Jose State University and received her teaching credential. During college she spent her summers as a camp counselor at Camp Concord in Lake Tahoe, where she formed some of her favorite memories. Upon graduating college she joined the Americorps Vista program, which took her to Chicago and later Cleveland. After her time with Vista, she moved back to California and began her career as an elementary school teacher.

In 1979, a teaching opportunity brought Jane to her beloved community of King City. For over 30 years, "Ms. Allen" worked as an educator in a variety of roles and grade levels. She truly loved teaching and it showed in the impact she had on the students she taught. Jane was also an active member of the community in a variety of ways. She was involved in numerous clubs and activities, including multiple choirs, Stage Hands productions, and Delta Kappa Gamma. She also served a vital role as a board member for Sol Treasures, the Monterey County Agricultural and Rural Life Museum (MCARLM), and the Hoe and Show Garden Club.

Jane was always up for a good adventure, and that spirit took her to many exciting places. She enjoyed relaxing in Sedona, camping in Death Valley and partying at Burning Man. She loved art and music and traveled the world taking art classes and workshops. Travel was a huge part of Jane's life and took her to many incredible locations, including Egypt, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Croatia, Scotland, Mexico, Peru, and China among other locations. She always had a fun story and a gift from her most recent trip to share with her friends and family.

More than anything, Jane loved her family and her friends and she will be dearly missed. She is survived by her son, Patrick, his wife Shae, her grandchildren Ella and Jackson, her nephew Jeff, a number of great nieces and nephews, and countless friends.
