Obituary

Jack Glenn Decker was born July 19, 1949 in Patterson, NJ and passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 1, 2019.

Jack grew up in Baltimore, MD and joined the army in 1968. He served 3 years and was later stationed at Fort Hunter Liggett, which is how he came to King City where he met his forever love, Paula Sue.

Jack and Paula were married in January of 1971 at which time he started working at the family business, Lee Conatser Welding, alongside his father-in-law Lee (deceased) and brothers-in-law Danny, Larry and Brent.  In 1995, he and Paula opened Decker Machine and Repair.  Jack retired in 2010.

Whether it be watching the race on the weekends, working on them, new or old – Jack loved cars.  There are countless vehicles that have been worked on by Jack over the years.  He loved to spend time installing trailer hitches on pickups, building motors, and restoring classic cars.  His most prized restorations were of his 1965 Chevy pick-up, 1969 Chevelle, and of course, "the red car."

The red car is Jack's 1957 Chevy Bel Air.  He worked on it tirelessly and to perfection with the help of his son Kade, and friends & family.  Jack and Paula took the red car to many car shows and even won some awards! But the true joy came from the time spent with friends and family, and the many rides they took together.

Along with family, friends, and classic cars and trucks, there was always music around Jack. He loved to listen to music, play guitar, and most of all to sing!

Jack took care of everyone before himself with the utmost care and love. He stayed strong for Paula while she was sick and cared for his mother-in-law Mildred until he was unable to do so.

He lived life to the fullest and everyone who he met was a friend.

Jack is survived by his wife of 48 years Paula Sue and his granddaughter Kadey Louise Decker; sisters Ruth and Gloria; many cousins, nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends. He is proceeded in death by his son Kade; sisters, Sis, Yummy and Dottie; and parents Jack and Marcella.
