Henry P. Garcia (Kike), a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away on July 31, 2026, just days before his 70th birthday. He was born on August 3, 1956, in Salinas, California, and lived in King City, California, for more than 65 years of his life. A proud graduate of King City High School’s Class of 1974, Henry later attended Mission College for a couple years, where he enrolled in the culinary program and continued to nurture his lifelong love of cooking. His life was marked by love, devotion, hard work, and deep care for his family.

Henry had many interests that reflected his creativity, talent, and energy. He enjoyed cooking, playing guitar, music, and photography. During his high school years, he was an athlete on the baseball, football, and track and field teams, where he was known for his speed and athleticism.

Throughout his life, Henry worked in many places and brought dedication and pride to every role. He worked at Basic Vegetables and Wells Fargo Bank, and it was at Gadsby’s Music Company that he met his wife, Katherine. Of the many jobs he held, the ones that most fueled his passion for cooking included The Long Branch Steakhouse, The Hacienda, The Monterey Marriott, and The Grill, where his love for preparing food and bringing people together could shine. He later joined Soledad CTF as a Correctional Supervising Cook, a position he held for more than fifteen years and enjoyed not only for the work, but also for the friendships he made along the way.

Henry is survived by his loving wife, Katherine Garcia; his five children, Michael A. Garcia, Erin K. Garcia, Matthew A. Garcia, Steven M. Garcia, and Rachel M. Garcia; his two grandchildren, Aaliyah R. Reyes Garcia and Amaya R. Gonzalez (on the way); his brothers, Robert Velasquez, Joe Raso, and Mariano Raso; his sisters, Mary Raso Abeytia, Frances Molina, and Gloria Raso; and many amazing nieces and nephews. His grandchildren brought him great joy, and his family will remember him for his steady presence, generous heart, and the love he shared so freely with those closest to him.

Henry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jose Garcia, and Maria Soledad Garcia; his mother, Francisca Garcia Raso; his sister, Betty Ochoa; and his brother, Marcus Velasquez.

Those who knew Henry will carry forward memories of his kindness, strength, humor, and the many ways he touched their lives. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his family, friends, former coworkers, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Girls Inc. or the SPCA, two organizations Henry felt very strongly about.

SERVICE INFORMATION:

A Viewing will be held on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. for family, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for the public, at Eddington Funeral Chapel, 429 Bassett Street, King City California.

A Rosary and Funeral Mass will start at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St., King City, California.

A Celebration of Life will follow at The Rustic Barrel at 1:00 p.m., 611 Canal St., King City, Calif.
