Guadalupe "Lupe" Cervantes Macias, 85 of King City passed away on March 29, 2017. He was born to Zenon Hernandez Macias and Sidronia Pena Cervantes on July 20, 1931. He had an older brother, Jesus and younger sisters, Raquel and Ester. His parents and siblings have preceded him in death.
Guadalupe came to work at the California Orchard Company in 1950. He was 19 years old. Every year he would go home to San Bernardino, California to his father's house after the season of work was over. He worked in agriculture, irrigating and pruning apricot, almond and walnut trees.
It was here at the California Orchard Company that he met his wife, Alma Valdez. They married in 1959 and were married for 24 years. They had 4 children: Lupe Chavez, Richard, Christina and Steve Macias. Lupe also worked for Keefer's Restaurant, Allen Gills on Central Ave., and for Ernest Clement.
His favorite past time was watching baseball; LA Dodgers games on TV, playing cards and drinking warm Coors. He also enjoyed having a garden. He planted corn, chile peppers and pumpkins. He attended St. John's Catholic Church.
Lupe is survived by his ex-wife, Alma V. Oliveros; his 4 children, Lupe Chavez, Richard, Christina and Steve Macias; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandson; as well as many nieces, nephews and other relatives here in California and in Mexico.
He served in the National Guard in Mexico.
A Visitation will be held, Wednesday, April 5, 2017 from 9am -11am at St. John's Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass is scheduled for 11am, Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at St. John's Catholic Church.
