Gerald "JP" Eugene Perry, 63 of Atascadero passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, May 21, 2017. He was born September 4, 1953 in San Luis Obispo, CA.
Gerald was affectionately called "JP" by most who knew him. He attended numerous schools during his childhood. He graduated in 1971 from Mt. Whitney High School in Visalia, CA He joined the U.S. Air Force in 1974 where he was stationed at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, CA. There he worked in the MP Dept.
After residing with his brother Kirk in Reno, NV for a few years, he returned in 2001 to live near his family in SLO county. He worked various jobs over the years, including Ken's Mobile, Shell Station in Paso Robles, as well as driving and landscaping work.
JP was a member of the VFW Post #2814, Atascadero, CA and the Moose Lodge #2067. He could be found every Wednesday afternoon preparing and serving lunch at the VFW. JP loved playing darts, pool, horseshoes and softball in his younger years.
He is survived by his sisters, Kelly (Perry) Shelton and Helena (Perry) Moze of Paso Robles; brother, William Kirk Perry of Atascadero; 6 nieces and nephews; 7 great- nieces and nephews; and many cousins, including Stanley Lewis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the VFW Post #2814 in remembrance of "JP".
SERVICE INFORMATION:
A Celebration of Life will be held, 11:00 a.m., at the VFW, 9555 Morro Road in Atascadero on Sunday, June 4, 2017. Private services in Arroyo Grande Cemetery will be at a later date.
