On August 26, 2015 Mr. Frank Magaña died very peacefully surrounded by his family in Salinas. He was born on October 4, 1914 in Globe AZ and since the 1950's has resided within Monterey County
He was employed by Costa Farms as a field foreman until his retirement in 1986.
One of the highlights of his life was when he attended the Grand Opening of the Golden Gate Bridge in May 1937. That night he attended a dance, where he danced so much he wore out his shoes.
His hobbies included working in his garden where he had fruit trees and other fruits and vegetables. He always shared his home grown fruits and vegetables with family, friends, and neighbors.
Frank was a very mild-mannered and simple man. He was a man who would unconditionally help someone in need. His kind spirit and generosity is reflected in his children and grandchildren. He had a kind spirit and will be missed by many.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jovita Magaña and children: Julia Benabides (Manuel) of Salinas CA, Mary Villarreal (Sonny) of Modesto CA, Pauline Magaña of Orange County, Gloria Magaña of Salinas CA, Ysidra Gutierrez (John) of Los Angeles CA, Hope Salas (Richard) of Phoenix, AZ, Frank Magaña Jr. (Mary) of Salinas CA, Richard Magaña (Yolanda) of Salinas CA, Barbara Guerrero (Cecil) of Salinas CA, Rose Corpus of Salinas CA, Laura Anderson (Cecil) of Leander TX, Cindy Burleson (David) of Little Falls NY, Willie Fraire (Elvira) of Salinas CA, Anthony Paz (Judy) of Bakersfield, CA, Steven Magaña (Cherry) of Greenfield CA. Also surviving are 36 grandchildren, 45 great-grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren
SERVICE INFORMATION:
A VISITATION is scheduled for Monday, August 31, 2015 from 9am to 10am at St. John's Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St., King City.
A ROSARY and FUNERAL MASS will follow at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church.
Burial will be in King City District Cemetery after the funeral mass.
