Evelyn Marian Davis passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 9th, 2014 under the care of Salinas Valley Memorial Hospital. She was 67 years old. Evelyn was a resident of King City, California. She was born in San Luis Obispo, California on July 1, 1947 to Manuel & Josie Machado. Evelyn was the youngest of 11 children in the Machado Family. She attended elementary school & High School in San Luis Obispo. As a youngster you would find her attending the Portuguese celebrations and enjoying time playing with her siblings & cousins.
She met Wesley Davis while he was a student at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. They married in 1966 & moved to Ventura, Ca after Wesley's graduation. After giving birth to her daughter Lee Ann the following year, they moved to King City where Wesley took over the family business at King City Auto Parts. Three years later they welcomed a boy, Brent. You could find Evelyn volunteering in classrooms, field trips, as well as local women's organizations during her life as a young mother and wife. She also helped with the bookkeeping at the Auto Parts store on an as needed basis.
Her door was always open to anyone, and there was a home cooked meal and cake available to those that stopped by for a visit. If you were lucky she might have some homemade Portuguese Sweet Bread for you around Easter time. Evelyn enjoyed gardening, playing cards, & doing crossword puzzles. She made it a point to attend as many sporting events as possible between all 6 grandchildren.
Her life was not measured in material accomplishments or accolades, but in her humble, kind, thoughtful, and loving heart towards her family and friends. Evelyn is survived by her daughter Lee Ann Etter of San Luis Obispo and her son Brent Davis of King City, her grandchildren: Halee, Bray, & Mallory Etter, Jake, Jessica, & Jarod Davis. She is also survived by her sisters Loretta Reade of Orcutt, La Vina Holder of Santa Barbara, Beverly Simons & Margie Lessie of San Luis Obispo.
A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 17th at Mountainbrook Community Church in San Luis Obispo.
