IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Esther
Kosty
December 22, 1959 – March 26, 2025
Esther Kosty (Angulo), our dear wife, mother, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on March 26th, 2025 after a lengthy illness.
Esther was born in El Centro, California on December 22, 1959 to Ruben and Jane Angulo. Esther spent her formative years in the Imperial Valley where she excelled in leadership and service. She had a wealth of close friendships and was a member of the Holtville High Vikings cheer squad, Vikettes, Venture Club, and Holtville 4-H.
In 1980 she moved to King City following some close friends and a career opportunity with Maggio Carrots (Cal Pac). She continued her career in agriculture with Dole, and Delicato (San Bernarbe Vineyards) for many years before joining Mesa Vineyard Management. As one of the company's first employees, she served as the Human Resources Director for more than 27 years. She took pride in her role, seeing that the employees were treated fairly. She was affectionally known as "Doña Esther" in the Ag community.
Esther enjoyed a rich family and social life. In 1990 she married the love of her life Chip Kosty and they were married for 35 years. They were blessed with two children, Amanda and Kevin. As a mother, she stressed respect for others and empathy for the less fortunate.
As a driving force in the community, Esther was passionately involved in many clubs and organizations. Seeing Esther at a Little League game, the SVF pig barns and a dance recital the same day was not an uncommon event. Esther championed many organizations in King City and never hesitated to volunteer to lend a helping hand. KC Jaycees, King City Valley Bears, Girls' Inc., St. John's Women's Guild, Silver Kings and Queens, the SVF Heritage Foundation, and the Knights of Columbus all benefitted from Esther's leadership and keen attention to detail.
Although a self-described "transplant" to King City, you'd be hard to find a bigger KCHS Mustang fan. The local sports scene would not be complete without Esther in the stands or behind the Mustang Bench Booth. She was an avid supporter of King City High school athletics, often found in the front row leading a crowd in cheers. She was on the Mustang Bench Board for almost 20 years, behind the scenes making sure that the teams had what they needed to be successful. Esther was also a fixture at local Little League games long after her kids had aged out of the organization, often seen behind the plate keeping score and critiquing Chip's strike zone.
Esther was also a patron of the local art scene and a supporter of many local community theater productions. She enjoyed being part of the King City Dance Foundation and almost never missed a performance of The Nutcracker. She also enjoyed working with Sol Treasures, seeing that the next generation had the opportunity to experience the arts and music.
Esther loved animals. She spent many leisurely hours with her favorite dog Penny. She was an exceptional Community Leader and Swine Project Leader for King City Blue Ribbon 4-H for over 10 years. Esther took great pride and pleasure in mentoring her own kids and their 4-H friends over the years. Every year when the Salinas Valley Fair came around, you would find Esther volunteering with the Salinas Valley Heritage Foundation or assisting directly in the pig barn.
When not volunteering, Esther enjoyed a nice wine tasting, catching the latest SF Giants or Niners game, listening to live music, and spending time with friends and family. She took great pride in living life to the fullest and supporting those she cared about wholeheartedly. Esther's wonderful smile and generous nature will surely be missed.
Esther is survived by her husband Chip; daughter, Amanda; son, Kevin; brother, Mike Angulo (Debbie); her sisters, Barbie Angulo and Lisa Fisher; her sister-in-law, Cherie Watte Angulo; and numerous nephews and nieces and great-nephews and nieces.
She was proceeded in death by her father, Ruben Angulo; mother, Jane Lopez Angulo, and her brother, Tommy Angulo (Cher).
