On Sunday, October 2, 2022, Esperanza Salas Diaz passed away peacefully in her sleep in Gonzales, California. She was born on May 7, 1932 in Edinburg, Texas.

She moved to California in 1962 with her late husband of 47 years, Jesus DeLeon Diaz, and their 7 children: Reymundo✝ (Maria), Rogelio✝, Juanita Garcia (Danny Sr.), Jesus Jr. (Linda), Noelia Castro (Refugio), Diana, and Jose Luis (Stephanie). She was a beloved mother, grandmother, godmother, sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor. She is survived by 5 of her children, 20 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, 8 great-great grandchildren, her brother Justo Salas, Jr. and her sisters Emma Salas and Berta Tamez.

All her life, Esperanza loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and she believed in his teachings so much she had a direct line to God. Her faith was the foundation of her essence. Esperanza loved her family and loved her traditions. Her favorite activities were cooking, sewing quilts for all her grandchildren, gardening, and birdwatching. As a member of Sociedad Guadalupanas de King City, she was constantly involved in her community and lent a helping hand whenever needed.

A Visitation will be held on Monday, October 10, 2022 at 5pm followed by a rosary prayer session at 6pm at St. John's Catholic Church in King City, California. Mass will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at St. John's Catholic Church in King City, California at 10:00 am followed by her celebration of life at the Church hall.
