Obituary

After 90 years of life Esequiel Perez Oropeza (August 14 1922) has moved on to his next adventure. Zeke as his family and friends called him passed away on Tuesday May 7, 2013.

SERVICE INFORMATION:

Zeke's wishes were not to have a service or viewing, but a celebration of his life! He wants everyone to dance and tell stories about him laugh and enjoy life. The family will be hosting a celebration, 3;00 p.m., Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the VFW in Atascadero. All are welcome!

Zeke was born in San Antonio Texas, moving to La Habra as a toddler. Zeke lived a long and exciting life overcoming many hurdles, challenges and adversity along the way. He helped support his family as a teen. He survived the Great Depression, poverty, gangs, and racism, and discrimination becoming stronger and more determined to have a better life. Zeke proudly served in WWll and enjoyed spending time at the VFW in Atascadero.

After moving his family to Atascadero he opened the 1st Mexican restaurant in town "Los Tres Oros". He later opened "la Casa de Oros" in Paso Robles and eventually "Eziquios" in Morro Bay. He loved to dance and socialize and made many friends along the way.

Zeke always had a smile and enjoyed spending time with his friends and family and will be missed by all who's lives he touched. Zeke is survived by his 4 children, Chico, Michael, Melody, and Tiny Oropeza, step children, Chris, Joseph, and Jim and Lisa Chavez. He is survived by his grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and 3 of his 8 sisters, and very special friend MaryAnn Rodgers.
