Elvia Covarrubias Hernandez, 60 of King City passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026 at her home with her family by her side. She was born, January 25, 1966 in Baja California, Mexico.

Elvia has been a resident of Monterey County for more than 40 years. She worked as a special education school bus driver for the South Monterey County Joint Unified District for over 20 years. She loved working with special needs children.

She loved to travel to warm beaches and always on the hunt for the next adventure. She enjoyed cooking and hosting for family gatherings especially for Thanksgiving. She was full of life and lived to the fullest, always dancing, laughing, and taking on life head on. She loved to feed the many hummingbirds that visited her garden.

Elvia leaves behind her husband, Jesus Hernandez; children, Jose J. Hernandez, Andrea Hernandez and Erik Ruiz (spouse), Brenda Hernandez; brothers and sisters, Bertha Sanchez, Sergio Avila, Juan Avila, Rosendo Covarrubias, Daniel Covarrubias, and Luis Covarrubias. She is preceded in death by her Mother, Luz Sanchez, and father, Rosendo Covarrubias

A Funeral Mass will be held, 5:00 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2026 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 27 S. El Camino Real, Greenfield, CA.
