Ellen Geraldine "Jerry" Press (Duckworth) passed away April 8, 2020, at Mee Memorial Hospital in King City. She was 82 years young. Jerry was known as Mom, Grandma, Grammy, Aunt Jerry and "Kettle".
Jerry was born July 21, 1937 in Salinas California to Milford Duckworth and Gladys Campbell. Although the family lived in many different areas, her roots were in King City as well as in Priest Valley.
Jerry married Bill Press October 9, 1955. They were blessed in celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary this past year. Jerry had been employed as a van driver for the RHP (Rural Health Project) back in the 60s and 70s. She drove bus for the King City High School and she worked as a Home Health Care provider for many years. She enjoyed volunteering as a Girl Scout Leader, 4-H Leader and could be counted on to help out at the King City High School concession stand for home sport events. She loved going to the Casinos and playing the slots. She would not pass up the opportunity to play Bingo and for years played Bunko weekly with a family group. Jerry and Bill spent many years camping out at Thousand Trail Campgrounds. Their favorite was the campground over in San Benito, close for family to come and enjoy with them.
Jerry leaves behind her loving husband of 65 years, Bill Press of King City, sons Craig Press (Terri) of Santa Rosa, Mike Press of Salinas, daughters Phyllis Gonzalez (David) of Lockwood and Lorie Stephens of King City. Jerry was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren.
Jerry leaves behind brothers Hank (Irene) Duckworth of King City, Clint Duckworth of King City and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry is proceeded in death by her parents Milford and Gladys Duckworth, Cloe Duckworth, Lois (Duckworth) Davis, her brothers Edward Duckworth, Cecil Duckworth, Bob Duckworth and Leonard Duckworth.
There will be a Celebration of Life to be held at a later date. Specific date and time to be announced.
Family requests that any donations to charity in Jerry's honor be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
