Elisa Llanas Zuniga, 86, of San Lucas, passed away on February 12th, 2015. She was born on June 14th, 1928 in San Antonio de Trojas, San Luis Potosi, Mexico.
Elisa was one of seven daughters born to Juan and Paula Llanas. She married Emidio Zuniga on August 23rd, 1952 in Brownsville, Texas. The two went on to settle in King City in the 1960's where, while living in farm homes for many years, raised their five children in the Salinas Valley, while Elisa began working at Almaden Vineyards. They later moved to San Lucas, where they lived until the time of her death.
Elisa was an active member and participant in the United Farm Workers Movement, of which she was extremely proud of.
After her retirement, she spent her time knitting winter hats and gardening, she loved being outdoors with her dog Pinto. Elisa was a woman of strong faith, constantly praying for and blessing her family and loved ones, always closing a conversation with "que dios de bendega" (may god bless you).
Elisa was a loving and humble mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who welcomed all. If you stopped by to visit, you would be sat down to a hearty meal.
She is and will always be loved and missed greatly.
Elisa is survived by her children, Odelia (Raul) Lozano, Hortencia (Armando) Flores, Manuel Zuniga, Mary Lou (Israel) Ornelas and Martin Zuniga; 13 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild; sisters, Leandra Llanas, Petra Loredo and Librada Ruiz. She is preceded in death by her husband, Emidio Zuniga; son, Antonio Zuniga; grandchild, Armando Flores, Jr.; sisters, Cecilia Gutierrez, Virginia Gutierrez and Dominga Amador.
SERVICE INFORMATION:
A VISITATION will be held, Thursday, February 19, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St., King City, California
A ROSARY is scheduled for 7:00 p.m., Thursday, February 19, 2015 at St. John's Catholic Church
A FUNERAL MASS is scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 20, 2015 at St. John's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in King City Cemetery.
