Ed Fischer, affectionately known to many as "E.O.," passed away on Friday, February 24, 2017. Ed was 95 years old, having been born April 28, 1921 in San Francisco.
Ed was raised in Fillmore, earning his teaching credential at San Jose State and his master's degree at USC. He also proudly served in the US Marine Corps.
Ultimately, Ed settled in King City, where he raised his family and enjoyed a long and distinguished career in education and service to the community. From 1945 through 1978 he served King City schools in the capacity of teacher, coach, vice principal, principal, and superintendent.
Ed was an active community volunteer, and his contribution to students, families, and teachers at King City High School will long be remembered. He also found time to participate in Rotary as a past president, and was a 33 degree Mason. In 1992 Ed was honored to be named King City Citizen of the Year. He was a board member of Monterey County Parks, and was enthusiastically involved in the Monterey County Agricultural and Rural Life Museum (MCARLM).
Ed enjoyed the outdoors and was always delighted to get in some deer hunting. He lived a long and happy life, dedicated to his family and to his community.
Ed was predeceased in 2003 by Marie, his wife of 54 years. He is survived by his daughter Melinda Sesnon, her daughters Monica Pauli (David) and Molly Smith (Darren), 5 great grandchildren, and his son Harry Fischer (Barbara) and their children, Andrea, Harry Jr., and Ellie.
A barbeque and celebration of Ed's life will be held on Sunday, March 19 , 2017 from 2 to 4 p.m. in the DeAnza building at San Lorenzo Park in King City.
