Obituary

Celestino C. Vasquez, Sr., 90, of King City passed away Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Mee Memorial Hospital in King City with his family at his side.

Celestino was born May 19, 1921 to Rafael Vasquez and Concepcion Cazares in Presidio, Tepehuanes, Durango, Mexico. He came to the United States working for the railroad in Nevada. In the early 1950's Celestino moved to Calif. as a Bracero working in agriculture. He worked throughout the Salinas Valley. He eventually found employment at Basic Vegetable Products in King City where he worked for 15 years until his retirement.

Mr. Velasquez was a member of Teamster's Local 890. He enjoyed being with family and friends and taking walks.

He is survived by his wife, Francesca Martinez; sons, Jose Angel Vasquez and Celestino Vasquez, Jr.; daughters, Concepcion Aguirre, Maria de Jesus Vasquez and Maria Louisa Cazares; sister, Luz Vasquez Malletz; 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.

Preceding Mr. Velasquez in death are his parents; brothers, Ramon Vasquez, Mateo Vasquez; sisters, Martina Vasquez and Esther Vasquez.

VISITATION:
A Visitation was held, 12:00 noon to 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Eddington Funeral Services, 333 E. San Antonio Dr., King City.

ROSARY SERVICE:
A Rosary service was held 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church, 504 N. Third St., King City.

FUNERAL MASS:
A Funeral Mass was held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 5, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church.

INTERMENT:
Mr. Vasquez was laid to rest in King City Cemetery immediately following the Funeral Mass.
